Reverted motor function in lab mice with spinal cord injuries with stem cells from
Stem Cells ( http://www.stemcellsinc.com/ ) published last August 19 the first study in which cells human neuronal stem cells were able to restore motor function in laboratory animals whose spinal cord had been damaged, even after the acute phase of trauma.
The study entitled: "Human Neural Stem Cells differentiate and Promote Locomotor Recovery in Chronic Spinal Cord Injury Early an NOD-SCID Mouse Model" is available here in full.
Stem Cells said that the data collected fin ' can now make the transition to clinical trials as early as 2011 .
The news is of great importance. It will follow the trend.

The investigations that followed brought the suspects to the crime does Radu, known as "The Gypsy", but better known in the underworld as Veronese "pin from El. He was already on the shoulders of thirty processes for the theft of cars and horses, armed robbery, multiple murder. I knew that surely had something to do again, so I accepted a good position to defend it.
The process can be described as "lightning" in two weeks scagionai Radu and I shut down the court. To thank me he gave me 40 Radu accordions, what was left of the shot and had not succeeded in placing on the market black. At first I thought I'd combine them all to make the guns, as I had read in "Bismarck: History of the Prussian army." Then I thought that in modern war the guns were not worth a memorial stones and decided to form a band. "

artificial blood: a reality?
We had already talked about in this blog. The research is moving to be able to get a source of artificial blood, thereby eliminating the need for donations , and permanently eliminating this also risks associated with transfusions of infected blood.
Compared to what is happening in the United Kingdom (see here our last published article, and here an update from the Sunday Times ), in the United States , thanks to funding from the Pentagon , we would much closer to a final result .
The technique, developed by Arteriocyte , it would be ready: make it possible to obtain stem cells from taken from umbilical cord blood indistinguishable from that taken by man. Currently the cost to produce one unit would be $ 5,000 , but when the process should become industrial, could be reduced to only $ 1,000.
The request to begin human trials protocol was presented to the Food & Drug Administration in July. The first tests on humans could begin in 2013 .
For more details, here's article ANSA.

Freeze and awaken our lives: where do we stand?
It is said that even Walt Disney has been frozen somewhere, and then was one of the first, and in any case the most famous, to rely on this very special treatment. In essence, a journey where you try to suspend the death , hoping that someone in the future individuals a technique to turn the life .
If in this case, it is likely that this is actually an urban legend (see the article: The story behind the urban legend Was Walt Disney Frozen ), organizations do exist, primarily in the United States and United Kingdom, which offer services guidance on this matter and if so, can address to refer patients to a particular treatment aimed at long-term storage in liquid nitrogen (see here, the FAQ on Cryonics , by the Italian Society Cryonics the ).
The phenomenon of those who choose to undergo this treatment as an alternative to classical procedures more concerns today a very small number of people . But what chance have these people can actually be awakened one day? And more generally, to what extent we with the techniques of suspension and restoration of life after freezing extreme?
The answer (at this point include wikipedia) is that for single cells or small organisms , these techniques are well established . We can say to suspend their lives for an indefinite time essentially and restore it at will. So far this is true:
In short, people today have chosen Cryonics betting that in the future, very advanced techniques will be able not only to resume their lives, but also correct the damage that the techniques of today will obviously flawed due to their body.
certainly a good bet, perhaps in this regard, Pascal have read: " We evaluate these two cases: if you win, you win everything, if you lose you lose nothing. Wager then, without hesitation [..], .

A brand new rebuilt with the stem, the first transplant in Boston
Carry a recent article published in repubblica.it , the sensational news of the first transplant of a liver , reconstructed in the laboratory using stem cells . It 'took place in Boston at the Massachusetts General Hospital .
Previously, in March, in London, a child had received a new trachea , this completely rebuilt with stem cells.
Until the experiment in June no one had managed to overcome the difficulty of recreating the intricate series of veins and arteries that carry nutrients to a body with functions as varied and complex.
These bodies have the advantage of avoiding the need for anti-rejection therapy , as they are grown from the patient's cells that are implanted. And of course avoid the need to await the availability of an organ from grub.
As for other complex organs: heart and lung , the results are encouraging, but the techniques are not yet sufficiently mature for use in a clinical setting. A Boston lungs completely artificial were created and implanted in mice, the experiment allowed them to survive for 6 hours .
